     A bill to amend 1965 PA 285, entitled

 

"Private detective license act,"

 

by amending section 5 (MCL 338.825), as amended by 2002 PA 474.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 5. (1) The department, upon application and after making

 

a determination that the applicant is qualified, shall issue the

 

applicant a license to conduct business as a private detective or

 

private investigator for a period of 3 years from date of issuance.

 

     (2) Upon the issuance of a license under this act to conduct

 

business as a private detective or private investigator, the

 

applicant is not required to obtain any other license from any

 

municipality or political subdivision of this state. However, a


 

licensee shall notify, in writing or by electronic mail, the law

 

enforcement agency having jurisdiction over a municipality or

 

political subdivision whenever the licensee is conducting business

 

as a private detective or private investigator within that

 

municipality or political subdivision.
