     A bill to amend 1967 PA 150, entitled

 

"Michigan military act,"

 

(MCL 32.501 to 32.851) by adding sections 183 and 184.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 183. (1) The governor may present the Michigan military

 

cross to any enlisted or reserve soldier or officer who served with

 

distinction in any branch of the military or the Michigan national

 

guard during combat. This award may be given out posthumously when

 

a soldier died in combat or due to injuries sustained during

 

combat.

 

     (2) The Michigan military cross is a medal to honor those born

 

in Michigan or who have lived there at least 10 years, who have

 

fought for our country in times of war or emergency.

 


     (3) The adjutant general shall develop and publish rules to

 

carry out this section.

 

     Sec. 184. (1) The governor may present the Michigan homeland

 

service medal to any individual who has rendered this state or the

 

United States appropriate service in times of war or emergency.

 

     (2) The Michigan homeland service medal is a medal to honor

 

those citizens of this state who have performed great acts of

 

selflessness or heroism or provided a greatly needed service for

 

this state. This award may be awarded to any person born in the

 

state or residing here for at least 10 years.

 

     (3) The adjutant general shall develop and publish rules to

 

carry out this section.
