The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:

A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Michael C. Murphy.
Whereas, It is an honor and a privilege to extend our gratitude to the Honorable Michael C. Murphy as he brings to a close his tenure of service as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives. Indeed, during his six years of service in this body, Representative Murphy has developed a reputation as a lawmaker committed to benefiting society and promoting the well-being of all of our state's residents; and
Whereas, Representative Michael Murphy came to this chamber with a wealth of civic and governmental experience. He graduated from DePaul University, earned his master's at Michigan State University, and received his divinity degree at the Chicago Theological Seminary. He has served as the Pastor of St. Stephen's Community Church, been a former Senate staff member, and was a department head in the city of Lansing. He has also developed an admirable record of service as a volunteer in the community. This extensive background has served the House well. His efforts have helped develop good public policy for the future of our state, and stand as a reflection of his sterling character. He is to be commended; and
Whereas, Michael Murphy has dedicated his life to public service. This has been demonstrated in all his committee assignments, constituent service, and his legislative endeavors to enact legislation to protect children, public health, and school safety. As his work through this legislative body comes to a close, we wish him the best; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That this highest accolade of tribute be extended to the Honorable Michael C. Murphy as he brings to a close his career in the Michigan House of Representatives; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Murphy and his family as evidence of our esteem.
