House Resolution No. 138.
A resolution recognizing October 8 through October15, 2005, as Binational Health Week in the state of Michigan.
Whereas, Michigan is fortunate to count among its population a number of migrant Mexican workers who contribute to Michigan’s economy through their labor; and
Whereas, Many of these migrant workers do not have access to preventative health services, educational programs, or labor rights protections; and
Whereas, There is a desire to create collaborative programs between organizations in Mexico and organizations in Michigan to assist this population; and
Whereas, During the week spanning from October 8 through October 15, 2005, organizations in Michigan and Mexico will celebrate Binational Health Week through a series of special programs focused on health, education, and labor rights; now therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body recognize the week of October 8 through October 15, 2005, as Binational Health Week in the state of Michigan. We encourage all citizens to recognize and participate in the special programs taking place this week to improve the health and well-being of migrant Mexican workers in Michigan.
