A SUMMARY OF SENATE BILLS 1345-1347 AS REPORTED FROM HOUSE COMMITTEE
Senate Bill 1345 would amend the Home Rule Village Act (MCL 78.12) to extend to three years the now two-year period during which a new charter must be adopted following an election on the incorporation of a village.
Senate Bill 1346 would amend Public Act 191 of 1968 (MCL 123.1017) which prescribes the powers and duties of the State Boundary Commission and provides for municipal incorporation, consolidation and annexation, to extend to three years the now two-year period during which a new charter must be adopted following the State Boundary Commission's order to approve the proposed consolidation of municipalities.
Senate Bill 1347 would amend the Home Rule City Act (MCL 117.16) to extend to three years the two-year period during which a new charter must be adopted following an election on the question of the incorporation of a proposed city.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The bills would not have any impact on state revenues or expenditures, and would only have a local fiscal impact if an election that could currently not be held during the current two-year duration could be held given the additional year.
