A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4526 AS INTRODUCED 3-22-07

The bill would add a new section to the Corrections Code to require the Department of Corrections to issue a debit card to any prisoner having money left in his or her institutional account on the date the prisoner is released on parole or released upon completion of the maximum sentence.  The debit card would allow the prisoner to make electronic transfers of funds from the institutional account.

The bill is tie-barred to several bills yet to be introduced.
