A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5563 AS INTRODUCED 12-12-07
The bill would create a new act to designate the day upon which the first University of Michigan home football game occurs each year as Bo Schembechler Day in the state of Michigan. The bill would specify that the legislature recognizes the outstanding contributions made by Glenn Edward "Bo" Schembechler during his tenure as head football coach at the University of Michigan, where he coached from 1969 to 1989.
The text reads, in part:
In his college football coaching career, he won a total of 234 games, including 194 at . . . Michigan. He is the winningest coach in Michigan football history, and he never had a losing season. His Michigan football teams won or shared 13 Big Ten titles and made 10 Rose Bowl appearances. He was widely regarded as a coach of great personal integrity. He helped elevate the annual Michigan-Ohio State football game into one of college football's greatest rivalries.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The bill does not appear to have any fiscal impact.
