A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6257 AS INTRODUCED 6-19-08
Generally speaking, Public Act 231 of 1931 prohibits deceptive practices in the sale of liquid fuels and lubricating oils. House Bill 6257 would amend the act to also prohibit retail sellers of any liquid fuels in Michigan from limiting the quantity of any fuels sold or offered for sale from any tank, container, fuel pump, or other distributing device. Any purchaser would have to be allowed to buy the retailer's entire remaining supply of that liquid fuel available for sale at that location or facility except during an emergency or energy emergency declared by the governor covering the area of Michigan where the retail location or facility is located.
