SUBSTITUTE FOR

HOUSE BILL NO. 4537

     A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled

"Michigan vehicle code,"

(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 710h.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

     Sec. 710h. (1) The child safety education fund is created

within the state treasury. The state treasurer may receive money or

other assets from any source for deposit into the fund and shall

direct the investment of the fund.

     (2) The department of community health shall administer the

fund and may expend money from the fund only for discretionary

grants under the child car seat safety grant program established

under section 710g.

     (3) Money in the fund at the close of the fiscal year shall

remain in the fund and shall not lapse to the general fund.
