     A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

 

"Public health code,"

 

(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 9205b.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 9205b. (1) The department shall identify materials that

 

contain information regarding the risks associated with human

 

papillomavirus and the availability, effectiveness, and potential

 

risks of immunization for human papillomavirus. The department

 

shall notify each public school, public school academy, and

 

nonpublic school in this state of the availability of the materials

 

described in this subsection and shall post the materials on its

 

website.

 

     (2) The department shall encourage each public school, public


 

school academy, and nonpublic school in this state to provide or

 

make available to students enrolled in the school and to provide or

 

make available to parents of students attending the school

 

information regarding the risks associated with human

 

papillomavirus and the availability, effectiveness, and potential

 

risks of immunization for human papillomavirus.

 

     (3) As used in this section, "public school", "public school

 

academy", and "nonpublic school" mean those terms as defined in

 

section 5 of the revised school code, 1976 PA 451, MCL 380.5.
