HOUSE BILL No. 6004

 

April 22, 2008, Introduced by Reps. Wenke, Rick Jones, Huizenga, Horn, Hammel, Wojno, Caswell and Agema and referred to the Committee on Oversight and Investigations.

 

     A bill to amend 1948 (2nd Ex Sess) PA 5, entitled

 

"An act to provide for the payment of compensation, mileage and

expenses of the members of the legislature,"

 

by amending section 4 (MCL 4.514).

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 4. (1) Each member of the legislature shall receive, at

 

the expense of the state, 1 copy of the laws, journals, and

 

documents of the house of which he or she is a member.

 

     (2) Each serving member of the legislature shall receive and

 

the same insurance health coverage benefits as are provided for

 

classified state employees ; and an expense allowance of $2,500.00

 

per annum. The speaker of the house of representatives shall

 

receive an additional expense allowance of $5,000.00. and shall be


 

responsible for payment of 25% of the cost or premium for those

 

benefits.
