A bill to amend 1919 PA 339, entitled
"Dog law of 1919,"
by amending section 29a (MCL 287.289a).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec.
29a. (1) The county
board of county commissioners of a
county
by ordinance may establish an animal
control agency which
that shall employ at least 1 animal control officer. The county
board
of county commissioners may assign the animal control agency
to any existing county department.
(2) The animal control agency of a county shall have
jurisdiction to enforce this act in any city, village, or township
which
that does not have an animal control ordinance.
(3) The county board of commissioners of a county may enact an
animal control ordinance. The county's animal control ordinance
shall provide for animal control programs, facilities, personnel,
and necessary expenses incurred in animal control and may include
any other animal control laws or regulations as are necessary. The
county's animal control ordinance shall not be in conflict with or
less stringent than any existing state animal control laws. The
county's animal control ordinance is subject to sections 6 and 30.
