SENATE BILL No. 40

 

 

January 24, 2007, Introduced by Senators SCOTT and BRATER and referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled

 

"The Michigan penal code,"

 

(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 506b.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 506b. Notwithstanding anything else to the contrary in

 

this act, an individual who was less than 18 years of age at the

 

time he or she committed a crime shall not be sentenced to

 

imprisonment for life without parole eligibility for that crime.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless all of the following bills of the 94th Legislature are

 

enacted into law:

 

     (a) Senate Bill No. 6.                                     

 


         

 

     (b) Senate Bill No. 28.                                   

 

            

 

     (c) Senate Bill No. 9.
