            House Resolution No. 114.

            A resolution congratulating the Michigan State University Men's Hockey Team upon winning the 2007 NCAA Championship.
            Whereas, It is a pleasure to join with the families, Michigan State University students, East Lansing, and all of Michigan in celebrating the achievements of the Michigan State University Men’s Hockey Team on its wonderful success over the season. With the fine record this squad attained, which has culminated with a NCAA Championship, this group of disciplined student-athletes has generated great pride throughout our state; and

            Whereas, Under the leadership of Coach Rick Comley, senior Captain Chris Lawrence and senior Alternate Captains Ethan Graham and Tyler Howells who led the way to a successful finish to their four years at the university. Their efforts, as well as an unending dedication to the game, helped the Michigan State University Spartans bring home the university’s third hockey championship and first since 1986.  Finishing the season 25-12-8, this team has proved what can be accomplished if you work hard enough. In the face of challenge and pressure, the team kept their focus on making their championship dreams come true and accepted nothing less than their best effort; and

Whereas, Winning titles or compiling outstanding seasons is never a fluke. While anything can happen in a single game, all teams show their true abilities and dedication over a long season or a difficult tournament. What distinguishes the best, however, is usually the effort that appears in practice, far removed from the excitement of game day. We admire the efforts, team spirit, and preparation of these talented young people; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body congratulate the Michigan State University Men's Hockey Team upon winning the 2007 NCAA Championship; and be it further

Resolved, That we congratulate the members and coaches of the 2006-2007 Michigan State University Men’s Hockey Team for their outstanding season. May they know of our admiration and best wishes for all that the future brings.
