The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:

            House Resolution No. 485.

            A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Hoon-Yung Hopgood.

            Whereas, As we conclude this Ninety-fourth Legislature, we are pleased to join together in congratulating Representative Hoon-Yung Hopgood as he completes his 6-year tenure in the House of Representatives. First elected in 2002, Hoon-Yung Hopgood has served the residents of his Wayne County Twenty-second District, earning their confidence to reelect him for 2 more terms of office; and

            Whereas, A resident of Taylor since childhood, Hoon-Yung Hopgood earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. He learned about the legislative process as an office staff member and as an education policy advisor before running for the Michigan House of Representatives. As a legislator, Hoon-Yung Hopgood focused his attention on improving K-12 education access and opportunities, as well as environmental and labor issues. He chaired the Transportation Committee and contributed his insights as a member of the committees on education, energy and technology, labor, and senior citizen issues; and

            Whereas, The people of Romulus and Taylor may be proud of the representative they sent to Lansing to work on local and state issues for these last 6 years. Representative Hoon-Yung Hopgood has established a record of service that will serve as an inspiration to others who will follow his path; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we honor Representative Hoon-Yung Hopgood as he concludes his service with the Michigan House of Representatives; and be it further

            Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Hopgood as evidence of our esteem.
