The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:

            House Resolution No. 491.

            A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Andy Meisner.

            Whereas, As he brings to a close his tenure in the Michigan House of Representatives, it is most appropriate that the members of this legislative body salute Andy Meisner for his myriad efforts on behalf of the citizens our state. Indeed, over the course of the past 6 years, nearly every area of public policy in the Great Lakes State has been positively impacted by the hard work and conscientious efforts of Representative Andy Meisner. His spirit of commitment is a sterling reflection of his strength of character. He is to be commended; and

            Whereas, Andy Meisner came to this legislative body with a strong background in government and a wealth of experience in the world of business and community affairs. He served in a number of advisory roles at the congressional level, worked in the real estate industry, and served in a host of state and local organizations, including the Michigan Mental Health Commission. His breadth of experience served him and this body well as it deliberated some of the most complex and challenging public policy issues in recent memory; and

            Whereas, Indeed, as the chair of the House Commerce Committee and as a member of the House Committees on Education, Tax Policy, New Economy and Quality of Life, and Judiciary, Andy Meisner was at the center of the efforts to establish and promote Michigan's new economy and other key policy initiatives. Clearly, his contributions to the work of the House and to the people of his district and our state exemplify the finest qualities of leadership and dedication; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we hereby offer this expression of tribute to commend and thank the Honorable Andy Meisner for his notable contributions to this legislative body and to our entire state; and be it further

            Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Meisner as evidence of our gratitude and best wishes.
