Rep. Palmer offered the following resolution:
House Resolution No. 399.
A resolution recognizing July 2008 as Advanced Life Support Month in the state of Michigan.
Whereas, Advanced Life Support consists of invasive life-saving procedures by medically trained and licensed individuals, including EMT-intermediates and paramedics; and
Whereas, Advanced Life Support refers to services capable of procedures considered "advanced" such as cardiac monitoring, endotracheal intbation, intravenous therapy, and select trauma surgical procedures; and
Whereas, Over 200 communities in Michigan currently benefit from the advantages Advanced Life Support units provide; and
Whereas, Thousands of hours of instruction are necessary for Advanced Life Support professionals to provide life saving services to Michigan communities; and
Whereas, Focused training is required to prepare Advanced Life Support professionals to provide emergency care in the pre-hospital and hospital environments; and
Whereas, An Advanced Life Support ambulance carries tools and equipment similar to that which is found in a hospital emergency department or critical care unit; and
Whereas, Countless lives are saved every year by the heroic efforts of Advanced Life Support professionals; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body recognize the month of July 2008 as Advanced Life Support Month in the state of Michigan and commend all Advanced Life Support units across the state for their efforts to improve and save the lives of Michigan citizens.
