The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:
House Resolution No. 468.
A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Steve Bieda.
Whereas, It is a privilege to extend the congratulations of this legislative body to Representative Steve Bieda as he completes his service in the House of Representatives. His election in 2002 gave him the opportunity to represent the citizens of the Twenty-fifth District. Representative Bieda has been an outspoken leader on issues that impact the lives of citizens across the state; and
Whereas, Steve Bieda has accomplished much through his involvement in community and legislative service. He attended Warren's Cousino High School and earned a bachelor's degree in public affairs and a master's degree in public administration from Wayne State University. In addition, he received a J.D. degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy Law School, and he has been an attorney in private practice specializing in estate and tax planning. For a time, he served as the city of Warren's labor relations director. He also served as a senior policy analyst for the Michigan House of Representatives. His interest in helping his community has been exhibited in numerous ways, including serving as legal counsel for the Warren Jaycees and the American Polish Century Club; and
Whereas, For 6 years, Representative Bieda has served his constituents extremely well in the House. He has worked assiduously as a member of the committees on Judiciary, Ethics and Elections, Labor, Transportation, and the Michigan Capitol Committee. Greatly admired for his achievements and ability to maintain the highest principles in serving the people, he was chosen as chair of the Tax Policy Committee, where he served with the utmost distinction; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That this commendation be hereby accorded to the Honorable Steve Bieda in recognition of his outstanding contributions to this great state; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to him as a token of the esteem in which he is held.
