The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:

            House Resolution No. 476.

            A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Craig M. DeRoche.

            Whereas, It is with gratitude for his commitment and diligence over the past 6 years that we offer this expression of our thanks and respect to Representative Craig DeRoche. His tenure as a legislator has corresponded with a period of great challenge in Michigan, and we appreciate the manner in which his energy and insights have addressed issues that are most important to the future of our state; and

            Whereas, A graduate of Central Michigan University, where he studied finance, Craig DeRoche brought experience in the insurance industry and in local government to Lansing with his election to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2002. His work on the Novi City Council gave him an invaluable background on a host of issues, including economic development, as did his participation in civic organizations. His efforts as a fellow with the Michigan State University Michigan Political Leadership Program further reflects his dedication to the public arena; and

            Whereas, Representative DeRoche's strong sense of responsibility for creating a stronger future for Michigan earned him the respect of his peers, and in 2005 he was elected as the Speaker of the House for the Ninety-third Legislature. In this demanding post, he addressed not only the issues before the state, but also the institution of this legislative body during an era of great change. His continued responsibilities as the Republican Leader demonstrate his dedication to the legislative process and to the people of our entire state; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we offer this expression of our thanks and best wishes to Representative Craig DeRoche as he completes his service as a member of this legislative body; and be it further

            Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Representative DeRoche as evidence of our thanks and best wishes.
