The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:

            House Resolution No. 483.

            A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Morris Hood III.

            Whereas, The members of the House of Representatives join together on behalf of the people of Michigan in honoring Representative Morris Hood III as he concludes 3 terms of service to the people of Detroit and Dearborn in the Eleventh District. He has carried on a family tradition of public service that has greatly benefited the people of Michigan; and

            Whereas, First elected to the House of Representatives in 2002, Morris Hood III won reelection in 2004 and 2006, demonstrating his commitment to his district. His background with the automotive industry gave him an appreciation for the driving force of our economy. This understanding served Representative Hood well in the legislature, and led him to serving as the chairman of the Appropriations Committee's Fiscal Oversight and Joint Capital Outlay subcommittees. In our challenging financial circumstances, his roles in spending oversight and directing capital expenditures have shown Representative Hood to be an able legislator who has worked to move Michigan forward; and

            Whereas, As he completes his tenure in the House of Representatives, we join in thanking Representative Morris Hood III for his dedication to the people of his district and his commitment to serving the entire state. His example will be an inspiration to future legislators; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we honor Representative Morris Hood III as he concludes his service with the Michigan House of Representatives; and be it further

            Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Hood as evidence of our esteem.
