The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:
House Resolution No. 492.
A resolution of tribute for the Honorable John Moolenaar.
Whereas, It is an honor and a distinct pleasure for the members of this legislative body to extend this expression of thanks to John Moolenaar as he brings to a close his 6-year tenure as a lawmaker in the House. His hard work and commitment have made an outstanding contribution to policymaking in Michigan. Clearly, John Moolenaar is to be commended for his dedication to serving the citizens of the Great Lakes State, and, in particular, the people of the Ninety-eighth District; and
Whereas, Indeed, a graduate of Hope College and Harvard University, John Moolenaar began his career of public service as a member of the Midland City Council. He was subsequently elected to the first of his 3 terms in the House in 2002. As a lawmaker, Representative Mooleenar has served on a number of committees, including Appropriations, where he was the chair of the subcommittee on school aid and education. He has more recently been the minority vice chair of the House Education Committee and a member of the House Committees on Energy and Technology and Great Lakes and Environment; and
Whereas, In these posts, and in all of his efforts as a lawmaker, John Moolenaar has exemplified the spirit of concern that embodies true leadership. He has been instrumental in achieving the passage of legislation addressing important issues relating to education, environmental protection, and economic development, and these achievements will long continue to pay dividends to the people of this state. We wish him continued success; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we hereby offer this expression of tribute to commend and thank the Honorable John Moolenaar for his notable contributions to this legislative body and to our entire state; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Moolenaar as evidence of our gratitude and best wishes.
