A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Mike Nofs.
Whereas, It is with great admiration and respect for his service on behalf of the Sixty-second District and the entire state that we offer this token of recognition and thanks to Representative Mike Nofs as he completes his tenure of service as a member of the Michigan Legislature. His expertise in criminal justice and his ability to bring clarity to complex issues were of immeasurable service to the state and this legislative body over the past 6 years;
Whereas, Mike Nofs' professional history is filled with public service. After attending Kellogg Community College and Spring Arbor College, he became a police officer providing dedicated service to the communities of Battle Creek, Marshall, and Calhoun County. Later, he joined the ranks of the Michigan State Police and served with integrity and excellence for 25 years before retiring as commander of the Battle Creek State Police Post. Mike Nofs has been a dedicated member and volunteer for several organizations, including the Fraternal Order of Police, the March of Dimes, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving; and
Whereas, Since 2003, Representative Nofs has served the Michigan Legislature, his district, and the entire state with the same dedication, hard work, and integrity that he showed with the Michigan State Police. He served as the chair of the Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security Committee during his freshman term. He demonstrated his excellence as a leader by serving as the chair of the Energy & Technology Committee in the Ninety-third Legislature and the vice chair in the Ninety-fourth Legislature. Based on his knowledge and deep understanding of complex energy issues, he became one of the most respected members of the committee, and many of his colleagues sought his opinions. In 2008, Representative Nofs was a key figure in the passage of historic energy legislation affecting the scope and function of the state's electric utilities; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we offer this expression of tribute to commend and thank the Honorable Mike Nofs for his significant contributions to this legislative body and to our entire state; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Nofs as a evidence of our high regard and thankfulness for his service and our best wishes for his future endeavors.
