The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:

            House Resolution No. 495.

            A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Brian Palmer.

            Whereas, It is a pleasure to commend and thank Representative Brian Palmer for his service to the people of his Macomb County district and all of Michigan as he brings to a close his tenure of service as a lawmaker. His dedication and concern for the families of this state have been deeply appreciated, and his insights have contributed to the legislative process in several key issue areas; and

            Whereas, A graduate of the University of Detroit with advanced degrees in architecture and urban planning and business administration, Brian Palmer has devoted himself to a variety of business ventures over the years. These range from building and operating environmental facilities to real estate and communications. In the public sector, he served as a township trustee for many years prior to his election to the House of Representatives in a special election in February 2002; and

            Whereas, Representative Palmer's work in Lansing has been highlighted by his efforts as the chair of the Education Committee during the Ninety-second and Ninety-third Legislatures, including his commitment to the development of enhanced high school curriculum standards. He served on the Tax Policy Committee in all of his full terms and has contributed to a wide range of legislation important to Michigan's future; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we offer this expression of our respect and thanks to Representative Brian Palmer for his distinguished service to this legislative body; and be it further

            Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Palmer as evidence of esteem and best wishes.
