A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4976 AS INTRODUCED 5-20-10

The bill would amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act to designate a portion of Highway M-203 in Houghton County beginning at the intersection of M-203 and 11th Street in Calumet Township and continuing west to the intersection of M-203 and Calumet Waterworks Road as "Veterans Memorial Highway."

FISCAL IMPACT:

Section 2 of the Michigan Memorial Highway Act indicates that the state transportation department shall only provide for the erection of suitable markers indicating the name of the highway "when sufficient private contributions are received to completely cover the cost of erecting and maintaining those markers."  As a result, the bill has no state or local fiscal impact.
