SUMMARY:

HB 5611 would amend section 24c of the State School Aid Act by appropriating an additional $642,300 to the Michigan youth challenge program for FY 2009-10.  Current appropriation to this program is $642,300.  Additional appropriation would restore funding to the FY 2008-09 level of $1,284,600.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The bill would increase appropriations by $642,300 with funding coming from the school aid fund.  The estimated balance in the school aid fund for FY 2009-10 is $62.8 million.
