House Bill 5614 (as passed by the House)
Sponsor: Representative Roy Schmidt
House Committee: Health Policy
Senate Committee: Health Policy
Date Completed: 9-14-10
CONTENT
The bill would amend the Public Health Code to require the Department of Community Health (DCH) to investigate an individual upon receiving information that he or she was practicing a health profession without the proper license or registration.
Specifically, the DCH would have to investigate if it received information that could constitute a violation of Section 16294 of the Code. That section provides that a person is guilty of a felony if he or she practices or holds himself or herself out as practicing a regulated health profession without a license or registration; under a suspended, revoked, lapsed, void, or fraudulently obtained license or registration; or using another person's license or registration as his or her own.

FISCAL IMPACT
Passage of the bill could lead to a minor increase in the number of investigations conducted by the Department of Community Health. This would result in a small but indeterminate fiscal impact.
