     A bill to amend 1992 PA 234, entitled

"The judges retirement act of 1992,"

by amending section 205 (MCL 38.2205).

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

     Sec. 205. The department shall be responsible for the

budgeting, procurement, and related management functions of the

retirement system. Beginning July 1, 2009, the department shall

authorize and administer the group health insurance plan and, if

applicable, the dental plan and vision plan applicable to

retirants, retirement allowance beneficiaries, and former qualified

participants. The director of the bureau office of retirement

systems in the department is the executive secretary of the

retirement system. The executive secretary, with department

approval, shall employ the services of an actuary and, subject to

rules of the civil service commission, shall employ medical

advisers, clerical, technical, and administrative employees the

executive secretary considers necessary for the proper operation of

the retirement system.
