A bill to amend 1953 PA 232, entitled
"Corrections code of 1953,"
(MCL 791.201 to 791.285) by adding section 37a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 37a. If a prisoner has money remaining in his or her
institutional account on the date of his or her release on parole
or release upon completing his or her maximum sentence, the
department, upon the prisoner's release, shall issue to the
prisoner a debit card or similar electronic funds transfer card
that allows the prisoner to make electronic transfers of funds from
the prisoner's institutional account.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect
unless all of the following bills of the 96th Legislature are
enacted into law:
