HOUSE BILL No. 4933

     A bill to require the timely installation of sidewalks in

 

certain developments; to provide for the powers and duties of

 

certain state and local government officers and entities; and to

 

prescribe civil sanctions.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1. If sidewalks are installed on 80% of the building

 

sites in a site condominium, subdivision, or other development with

 

multiple building sites, the developer shall install sidewalks on

 

the remaining building sites within 3 years after the date

 

sidewalks are installed on 80% of the building sites or within 3

 

years after the effective date of this act, whichever is later.

 

     Sec. 2. An ordinance may impose a requirement that is the same

 

as or stricter than the requirement set forth in section 1.


 

     Sec. 3. A person who violates section 1 is responsible for a

 

state civil infraction and may be ordered to pay a civil fine of

 

not more than $50.00 per day for each building site at which a

 

sidewalk has not been installed in violation of section 1.
