USE CERTAIN MILITARY EXPERIENCE

AS BASIS FOR EMT LICENSURE

House Bill 4605 (Substitute H-3)

Sponsor:  Rep. Gail Haines

Committee:  Military and Veterans Affairs

Complete to 6-11-13

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4605 AS REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON 6-5-13

The bill would amend the Public Health Code so that the department could issue a license as an emergency medical technician to an individual who while on active duty as a member of the armed forces served as a military health care specialist and was honorably discharged in the two-year period preceding the date the license application was filed.

This would serve as an alternative route to licensure instead of successfully completing an appropriate and approved education program.  Other licensing requirements would also have to be met.

The bill would take effect 90 days after being enacted into law.
