A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5595 AS INTRODUCED 5-21-14

The bill would require the Michigan Capitol Park Commission to provide for the appropriate display of the plaque donated by Brass Roots and honoring the right to bear arms under Amendment II of the US Constitution and under Section 6, Article I of the State Constitution of 1963, once sufficient money is received to meet the costs of placement.

The bill would amend Section 298c of the Management and Budget Act. Under that section of the act, the Michigan Capitol Park Commission is required to develop a master plan for and manage the development and operation of the Michigan Capitol Park, and the section spells out a number of other duties.  The bill would add to those duties.

MCL 18.1298c

FISCAL IMPACT:

House Bill 5595 would have an indeterminate fiscal impact on the Michigan Capitol Park Commission.  The only fiscal impact would be the cost of installing the plaque identified in the provisions of the bill.
