Senate Bill 705 (as introduced 12-4-13)                                                 (enacted version)

Sponsor:  Senator Rick Jones

Committee:  Judiciary

Date Completed:  12-9-13

CONTENT

The bill would amend the juvenile code to require the recording of a hearing to be maintained as prescribed by Supreme Court rules.

Under the code, in any case in which a record of the hearing is kept by a recording device, a transcript does not have to be made unless requested by an interested party.  The code requires the tape of the hearing to be stored as a permanent record of the court.  The bill instead would require the recording of the hearing to be maintained as prescribed by rules of the Supreme Court.
