A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled
"The revised school code,"
(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1307.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1307. (1) The statewide school safety commission is
created in the department. Not later than April 1, 2013, the
governor shall appoint the members of the statewide school safety
commission.
(2) The statewide school safety commission shall do all of the
following:
(a) Study and determine best practices for minimizing the risk
of violent incidents at schools.
(b) Recommend policies and practices for public and nonpublic
schools to implement in order to prevent violent incidents at
school.
(c) Make recommendations to the legislature on appropriate
legislation that would help minimize violent incidents at schools.
(d) Publicize its findings and recommendations.
