Pastor Strick Strickland Sr., Pastor of Second Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, offered the following invocation:

“Lord God we have assembled together today as the result of Your sovereign kindness and mercy. We look to You this day because we recognize that You are the source of all wisdom, knowledge, and provision. So now Lord we stand subjecting ourselves to Your divine direction. We pray that Thou would work in and through each of us to gain the desired progress out of today’s agenda and beyond. We recognize that You are God to us all and have no select people or parties. Therefore, we both thank You and praise You for being a God of diversity and inclusion; and one Who loves, values, and cares for us all. We ask that Thou would train our minds and govern our hearts to work fervently together, while endeavoring to maintain commitment to the unity of the whole. We come against combative and divisive spirits in Your name.

Dear Lord, I lift up every representative to You and ask that Thou would strengthen them and give voice to those they represent. I recognize the assignment on their lives and ask that Thou would continue to work through them to prosper our communities, state, and beyond. Bless us all as You see fit. Finally Lord, we thank You in advance for Your presence and involvement in the next steps of our journey and future phases of our lives.

Hear now Thy servants prayer, that through the lives we live Your Name will be Glorified, Saints be Edified, and Enemy be Terrified in the blessed and powerful name of our Lord. Amen.”
