House Bill 4740 as introduced
Sponsor: Rep. Laura Cox
Committee: Regulatory Reform
Complete to 11-3-15
SUMMARY:
House Bill 4740 would amend Section 3e of the Fire Prevention Code by requiring the Bureau of Fire Services to promulgate rules which would require the owner of a building or structure constructed with light-frame truss-type construction to mark it with a sign or symbol indicating that was the type of construction used.
The requirement would apply to the owner of a commercial or industrial building, or of a residential structure containing three or more units, and is intended to warn persons conducting fire suppression or other emergency operations of the building or structure's construction. The sign would have to be approved by the bureau, which could approve different signs or symbols to indicate whether the light-frame truss-type construction is in the roof, floor, or both.
The bill also would require the bureau to promulgate rules covering at least the following:
o The dimensions and color of each sign or symbol.
o The time within which affected structures must be marked.
o The location on each affected structure where the sign or symbol must appear.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The bill would have no significant fiscal impact on the state or local units of government.
