INFANT SAFE SLEEP RULES

SUMMARY:
The bill would amend the Child Care Licensing Act to specify the following:
o No later than 90 days after the effective date of the bill, each child care center, group child care home, and family care home would be required to provide the parent of every child in its care under the age of one year, a copy of the department rules regarding infant safe sleep as promulgated under the act.[1]
o In addition, beginning on the effective date of the bill, each child care center, group child care home, and family care home, upon enrollment of a child under one year into its care would also need to provide to the parent a copy of those department rules regarding infant safe sleep.
The bill would take effect 90 days after being enacted.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The bill does not appear to have any fiscal impact.

Michigan Council for Maternal and Child Health supports the bill. (4-16-17)
