SUMMARY:

House Bill 5769 would repeal Public Act 181 of 1956, which charged the Department of Social Welfare with purchasing a site or sites, and preparing preliminary plans, for a boys’ vocational school and made a one-time appropriation for those purposes.

[The Michigan Boys Vocational Home was operated on about 30 acres in Lansing, Michigan, from 1856 to 1972. Almost all of the buildings were demolished after the Home was closed. A new Boys’ Vocational School facility was opened near Whitmore Lake in February of 1960; it was later named the W.J. Maxey Boys Training School. It was closed in 2015.]

MCL 803.211 to 803.215 (repealed)

FISCAL IMPACT:

House Bill 5769 would have no fiscal impact on the state or on local units of government.
