COVERED VEHICLE LAMPS

House Bill 6103 (H-2) as reported from committee

Sponsor:  Rep. Julie Calley

Committee:  Transportation and Infrastructure

Complete to 10-5-18

SUMMARY:

House Bill 6103 would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to remove the requirement that a lamp or reflector on a vehicle operated on public highways be both covered and unlit if the vehicle is not expressly required or permitted to be equipped with the lamp or reflector under the Code or if the lamp or reflector does not meet standards prescribed in                      49 CFR 571.108.[1]

Under the bill, such a lamp or reflector would need to be covered or unlit, rather than both.

In other words, unlit lamps would not also be required to be covered.

MCL 257.698

FISCAL IMPACT:

The bill would have no direct fiscal impact on the state or local units of government.
