REPORT TO LEGISLATURE REGARDING
OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES
House Bill 6381 as introduced
Sponsor: Rep. Jeremy Moss
Committee: Regulatory Reform
Complete to 10-1-18
SUMMARY:
House Bill 6381 would amend the Occupational Code to require that the annual report provided to the legislature by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) regarding applications for occupational licenses issued under the Code include the number of applications denied by LARA because of an applicant’s lack of good moral character and a summary, by category of offense, of the criminal convictions on which those denials were based.
The report is due by December 1 of each year and submitted to the standing committees and appropriations subcommittees of the Senate and House of Representatives concerned with occupational issues. Information in the report concerns the preceding state fiscal year.
House Bill 6381 is tie-barred to House Bill 6110, which means that it cannot take effect unless House Bill 6110 is also enacted. The bill would take effect 90 days after enactment.
MCL 339.411
FISCAL IMPACT:
House Bill 6381 would not affect revenues or expenditures for the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs or any other unit of state or local government
