A bill to provide for a grant program to fund supportive
services for veterans; to provide for the powers and duties of
certain government agencies; and to provide for the promulgation of
rules.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1. As used in this act:
(a) "Department" means the department of military and veterans
affairs.
(b) "Veteran" means an individual who served in the United
States Armed Forces, including the reserve components, and was
discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.
Sec. 2. (1) The department shall establish a grant program to
fund supportive services for veterans, including, but not limited
to, job training, mental health and drug treatment, case
management, care coordination, and physical rehabilitation.
(2) The department shall award grants to those entities that
provide supportive services for veterans based on the efficiency
and effectiveness of the supportive services provided.
Sec. 3. Pursuant to the administrative procedures act of 1969,
1969 PA 306, MCL 24.201 to 24.328, the department shall promulgate
rules to implement this act.
Enacting section 1. This act takes effect 90 days after the
date it is enacted into law.
