A bill to amend 1953 PA 232, entitled
"Corrections code of 1953,"
(MCL 791.201 to 791.285) by adding section 80.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 80. (1) A prison kitchen facility that is managed by a
private contractor or a prison kitchen facility in which the food
is prepared or served, or both, by employees who are not state
employees is subject to inspection consistent with the food law,
2000 PA 92, MCL 289.1101 to 289.8111.
(2) If a prison kitchen facility is managed by a private
contractor or the food at a prison kitchen facility is prepared or
served, or both, by employees who are not state employees, the
private contractor managing the facility or employing the
individuals who work at the facility is responsible for the cost of
an inspection conducted by a local health department or the
department of agriculture and rural development.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
after the date it is enacted into law.
Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take effect
unless Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill No. 5065 (request no.
03744'17) of the 99th Legislature is enacted into law.
