     A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

 

"The revised school code,"

 

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding sections 1241 and 1241a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1241. (1) The board of a school district or intermediate

 

school district, the board of directors of a public school academy,

 

or the governing body of a nonpublic school shall designate a

 

liaison to work with the school safety commission created under

 

section 5 of the comprehensive school safety plan act. A liaison

 

designated under this section shall be an individual who is

 

employed by the school district, intermediate school district,

 

public school academy, or nonpublic school or who is assigned to

 

regularly and continuously work under contract in a school operated

 


by the school district, intermediate school district, public school

 

academy, or nonpublic school.

 

     (2) A liaison designated under this section shall work with

 

the school safety commission to identify and evaluate school safety

 

measures.

 

     Sec. 1241a. (1) The board of a school district or intermediate

 

school district, the board of directors of a public school academy,

 

or the governing body of a nonpublic school shall submit to an

 

inspection of each school building operated by the school district,

 

intermediate school district, public school academy, or nonpublic

 

school by the department of state police under section 5 of the

 

comprehensive school safety plan act.

 

     (2) As used in this section, "school building" means that term

 

as defined in section 3 of the comprehensive school safety plan

 

act.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.

 

     Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 5828 (request no.

 

05839'18) of the 99th Legislature is enacted into law.
