A bill to create and implement a centralized juvenile justice
data sharing system; to prescribe the powers and duties of certain
state departments and agencies; and to address funding for a
centralized juvenile justice data sharing system.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1. As used in this act:
(a) "Department" means the department of health and human
services.
(b) "System" means the centralized juvenile justice data
sharing system created in section 3.
Sec. 3. The department shall develop and implement a
centralized juvenile justice data sharing system. This system must
be adequately and sustainably funded by the state.
Sec. 5. (1) Working in partnership with the juvenile court
administrators and stakeholders, the system shall utilize the
United States Department of Justice's justice data collection and
sharing standards and architecture.
(2) The state court administrative office must explore a
partnership with the Michigan statistical analysis center at
Michigan State University.
Enacting section 1. This act takes effect 90 days after the
date it is enacted into law.
