            Senator Meekhof offered the following resolution:

            Senate Resolution No. 197.

            A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Judy K. Emmons.

            Whereas, It is a privilege to honor Senator Judy Emmons as her term ends in the Michigan Senate. Her service to this legislative body, the residents of the Thirty-third District, and to all the citizens of Michigan is deeply appreciated; and

            Whereas, Judy Emmons has had a long and distinguished career of service that includes years as a member of the Teacher Tenure Commission and board member of both the Montcalm Intermediate School District and the Montcalm School District Board of Education. As co-owner of Wilson Farms, and serving on the Michigan Farm Bureau Board of Directors, she has also demonstrated leadership in Michigan's agriculture industry and community; and

Whereas, Elected to the House in 2002, Judy Emmons was an engaged legislator who sought to serve her constituents and to impact public policy. Elected to the Senate in 2010, she has served on several committees including chair of the Families, Seniors, and Human Services Committee, and vice chair of the Education Committee and the Veterans, Military Affairs, and Homeland Security Committee. She has also been a member of the Agriculture, Economic Development, Health Policy, and Elections and Government Reform committees; and

Whereas, One of Senator Emmons' shining accomplishments has been her tireless work in the fight against human trafficking. In addition to raising awareness, she has championed the cause of countless victims who have been without a voice. As a result of her work, legislation was enacted that has changed many lives; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the Senate, That we offer this expression of tribute to commend and thank the Honorable Judy K. Emmons for her notable contributions to this legislative body and to our state; and be it further

            Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Senator Emmons as evidence of our gratitude and best wishes.
