Rep. Crawford offered the following resolution:

House Resolution No. 279.

            A resolution to declare March 15, 2018, as Medal of Honor Day in the state of

Michigan.

            Whereas, The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded by the United States Government and is bestowed by the President of the United States, in the name of Congress, upon members of the armed forces who distinguish themselves through conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty. The first Medal of Honor awards were presented to six men on March 25, 1863, by the Secretary of War. 110 Medals of Honor are accredited to Michigan; and

            Whereas, It is appropriate to honor the heroic recipients of the Medal of Honor; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare March 15, 2018, as Medal of Honor Day in the state of Michigan.
