House Resolution No. 365.
A resolution to declare June 9, 2018, as National Outdoors Day in the state of Michigan.
Whereas, Our nation will be celebrating Great Outdoors Month in June. We celebrate the unmatched magnificence of our nation’s natural wonders. Spending time in the great outdoors, especially during summer, is an American tradition, with millions of people participating in outdoor recreation annually. Outdoor recreation has a far-reaching positive impact on both our citizens and economy; and
Whereas, We celebrate the passage of the Outdoor Recreation Jobs and Economic Impact Act of 2016. This historic act gives the outdoor industry its own metric by which to quantify its impact on the nation’s economy. Thanks to this legislation, the outdoor industry receives official government recognition for years to come; and
Whereas, The importance of outdoor recreation cannot be understated. Parks and recreation can have a positive impact on the physical, mental, and social health of individuals and their communities. In experiencing the outdoors and observing our natural surroundings, we gain a better understanding of the complexities of our beautiful world. Spending time enjoying the outdoors also provides an opportunity to reset from the stress of everyday life; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare June 9, 2018, as National Outdoors Day in state of Michigan; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance, Governor Rick Snyder, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the National Park Service, and members of the Michigan Congressional Delegation, as evidence of our esteem for being a voice for the outdoor industry, and helping to create a healthier and more prosperous Michigan.
