Senator Meekhof offered the following resolution:

            Senate Resolution No. 204.

            A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Vincent Gregory.

            Whereas, It is with great appreciation for his service to the people of Michigan that the members of the Senate commend Senator Vincent Gregory for his contributions to the state. During his years of service, he dedicated his wisdom and insight to advance the concerns of the citizens of the Eleventh District in southeast Michigan, and the entire state; and

            Whereas, Senator Gregory's distinguished public service career includes a stint in the Marine Corps where he attained the rank of corporal. He pursued a career in law enforcement with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department for 30 years, achieving the rank of corporal and detective. He was also elected as vice president and president of Local 502 SEIU, AFL-CIO. He successfully served as an Oakland County Commissioner for ten years. In 2007, he accomplished a long-time goal to complete his education by completing the Return to Work Program at Madonna University, earning a bachelor's degree in criminal justice; and

Whereas, Senator Gregory first joined the Michigan Legislature in 2009 upon his election to the House of Representatives. He was first elected to the Senate in 2010 where he served as minority vice chair of the Appropriations Committee and several Appropriations subcommittees: Capital Outlay, Health and Human Services, Corrections, and State Police and Military Affairs. He also served as a minority vice chair of the Families, Seniors and Human Services, the Veterans, Military Affairs and Homeland Security, and the Oversight committees. He dedicated a lifetime of service to the public, and as a member of this esteemed institution worked to advance the concerns of veterans and vulnerable populations around the state; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the Senate, That we offer this expression of tribute to commend and thank the Honorable Vincent Gregory for his notable contributions to this legislative body and to our state; and be it further

            Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Senator Gregory as evidence of our gratitude and best wishes.
