A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled
"Public health code,"
(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding sections 16113a and 16113b; and to repeal acts and parts of acts.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 16113a. (1) Notwithstanding any
other provision of this article to the contrary, the department, in response to
the COVID-19 pandemic, shall waive the completion of continuing education requirements
as a condition for renewal of a license or registration granted under this
article, if the licensee or registrant is a physician licensed under part 170
or 175, a registered professional nurse or licensed practical nurse licensed
under part 172, a pharmacist licensed under part 177, or a respiratory
therapist or respiratory care practitioner licensed under part 187.
(2)
As used in this section, "COVID-19 pandemic" means the pandemic involving
coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
(3)
This section is repealed effective 120 days after the effective date of the
amendatory act that added this section.
Sec. 16113b. (1) Notwithstanding any
other provision of this article to the contrary, a licensee or registrant is
not required to complete any of the following as a condition of licensure,
registration, or renewal of the license or registration, in response to the
COVID-19 pandemic:
(a)
An examination, to the extent that the examination's administration has been
canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
(b)
Fingerprinting, to the extent that, in the judgment of the director, locations
to have fingerprints taken are substantially unavailable on account of closures
arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
(2)
As used in this section, "COVID-19 pandemic" means that term as
defined in section 16113a.
(3) This section is repealed effective 120 days after the effective date of the amendatory act that added this section.
