The bill would amend the child care licensing Act to require the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) to make available to the public through its website, without charge, the results of any special investigation conducted in the past three years and information on corrective actions taken, if any.

The Act requires LARA to establish and maintain a database of child care centers, family child care homes, and group child care homes. Among other information, the database must include the number and nature of any special investigations regarding a child care center, family care home, or group child care home conducted by LARA.

The Act requires this information to remain in the database as long as the licensee is licensed. The bill would delete this requirement.

(The Act defines "child care center" as a facility, other than a private residence, receiving one or more children under 13 years of age for care for periods of less than 24 hours a day, where the parents or guardians are not immediately available to the child. "Family child care home" means a private home in which one but fewer than seven minor children are received for care and supervision for compensation for periods of less than 24 hours a day, attended by a parent or legal guardian, except children related to the adult member of the household by blood, marriage, or adoption. "Group child care home" means a private home in which more than six but not more than 12 minor children are given care and supervision for periods of less than 24 hours a day unattended by a parent or legal guardian, except children related to an adult member of the household by blood, marriage, or adoption.)

In addition, the Act requires LARA to make certain information from the database available, without charge, to the public through its website for individuals seeking information on child care options. Under the bill, LARA would have to make available as described above the results of any special investigation conducted in the past three years and information on corrective actions taken, if applicable.
