CONTENT
The bill would amend the Revised School Code to require that a school board cooperate with local law enforcement agencies to ensure that blueprints (as currently required) or critical incident mapping data for each school building operated by the school board were provided to the appropriate law enforcement agency. Critical incident mapping data provided under the bill would have to be compatible with software platforms used by local, State, or Federal safety agency that provided emergency services; provided in a printable format; verified for accuracy through a walkthrough of a school building or school grounds; and oriented true north.
"Critical incident mapping data" would mean information provided in an electronic or digital format to assist law enforcement or emergency first responders in an emergency. The information provided would have to include all of the following:
-- Accurate floor plans overlaid on or current aerial imagery of a school building or school plan.
-- Site-specific labeling that matched the structure of the school building, including room labels, hallway names, external door or stairwell numbers, locations of hazards, key utility locations, key boxes, automated external defibrillators, and trauma kits.
-- Site-specific labeling that matched the school grounds, including parking areas, athletic fields, surrounding roads, and neighboring properties.
-- Gridded overlay with x/y coordinates.
